Hardware Requirements

Before you start our guide, make sure you have one of the following Raspberry Pis:
Raspberry Pi Zero 2W

  • Power Supply (5V, 2.5A with a microUSB connector)
  • Mini HDMI to HDMI adapter cable
Raspberry Pi 4B

Raspberry Pi 4B
  • Power Supply (5V, 2.5A with a USB-C connector)
  • Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter cable
Raspberry Pi 5

Raspberry Pi 5
  • Power Supply (5V, 3A with a microUSB connector)
  • Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter cable
You will also need the following components:

For the Raspberry Pi
  1. MicroSD Card (at least 8GB, Class 10 recommended)
  2. MicroSD Card Reader
  3. Keyboard and Mouse
  4. Monitor with HDMI input
  5. Internet connection (via Wi-Fi)

For the monitoring setup
  1. Pimoroni Automation Hat mini
  2. Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor
  3. Cables
